A public/private art program developed by Metrovation that screens fresh and provocative new art videos during the Oakland Art Murmur event occurring the first Friday of every month. Videos for each monthly show are selected by jury from the submissions of local, national and international video artists. The work is projected from the roof of the Broadway Grand residential building, across West Grand Avenue, onto the 8-story rear wall of the 2201 Broadway office building, achieving a 100’ by 100’ image on the wall. This uniquely large format provides a sort of “wallpaper” of interesting art for the Murmur event and has become an important venue for video artists to display their work. The partners in the Great Wall of Oakland project are Metrovation, Residents of Broadway Grand, the Oakland Museum of California and the City of Oakland.
